the inspiration: Whiskey is always something that inspires. It's so versatile, although many believe that there's only so much you can do with it. My goal is to create beautiful cocktails that embody the true flavors of the whiskey in them, but allow you to enjoy the spirit year-round. I always see whiskey sales drop in the summer because so many people perceive it as a winter or fall drink, but there are ways that you can create something really refreshing during warm weather. Plus, it's much more of a challenge than using vodka to make a drink.

I also try to draw upon experiences from my life to inspire my cocktails. My grandparents have a farm and I spent a lot of time there picking in the garden and the orchard. I was also fortunate to travel the U.S. quite a bit with my mother and father, where I was first introduced to the idea of regional cuisine. Now, freshness and regionality are always in the back of my mind when I'm working on making new cocktails. I know I've created a great drink when it makes me think of something from my childhood. Today, more than ever in my life, I've realized that too often we let moments and memories pass us by and we can never get them back. If I can create a cocktail that will remind someone of their childhood or create a new memory and experience that they can cherish the rest of their lives, then I'm doing my job right.
